Job Summary: The Material Handling Superintendent direct all aspects of the logistics department including receiving of raw materials, finished inventory control and production scheduling. This position manages inventory rotation of the raw material and finished inventory ensuring first in/first out. This position also assists in ensuring food safety and high-quality products that meet or exceed regulatory and customer requirements. This position is also responsible for raw material and finished inventory, shipping and receiving.

Job Duties:

  • Manage logistics for maximum efficiency actively coordinating with all areas involved with the process. Coordinates raw ingredient receivables with transportation clerk. Interfaces with poultry production scheduling group to ensure most appropriate schedule possible to maximize efficiency. Responsible for plant scheduling for finished products and goods to ensure correct inventory levels. Responsible for maintaining and enforcing all bio-security requirements regarding raw material and finished products.
  • Effectively communicate in an open and timely manner. Handles issues with the assurance of utmost confidentiality.
  • Ensure that all employees within the logistics department are trained and fully understand their responsibilities. Manage all employees to consistently understand the fundamentals of staffing expectations, absenteeism, attendance issues, overtime, disciplinary action and other administrative duties that managers are responsible for executing efficiently.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all employees understand and comply with customer specification compliance, bio-security law, and all USDA-regulated requirements.
  • Manage all logistics employees to meet and exceed all schedules for shipping product out including properly utilizing in-house storage areas to maximize finished product, dry ingredients, and all packaging materials to ensure day-to-day consistency of the further processing operations. Controls and strategically plans the plant storage capacity to optimize the company’s profitability through maximized scheduling efficiency and proficiency.

Additional Requirements :

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum three years’ experience working in food industry logistics, supervision, or demonstrated comparable abilities.
  • General computer skills in MS Office Suite
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a cold environment.
