Job Description

The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for reviewing, designing, and implementing the technical aspects of all phases of manufacturing, from job quoting to final inspection. The duties performed include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Review drawings for manufacturing feasibility.
  • Advises on manufacturing equipment and process selection as well as estimating run rates and efficiency.
  • Works closely with Estimating department to review and approve production processes.
  • Review production documents for manufacturing exception conformance to quote.
  • Read information in job packet and interpret blueprints to determine materials, specifications, and tolerances.
  • Use customer prints to develop manufacturing and design package using AutoCAD and 3D modeling software.
  • Use measuring equipment, such as calipers, micrometers, vision systems, coordinate measuring machines (CMM), etc. to check accuracy of dimensions.
  • Aids in creating in-process inspection documents and procedures, including programming of CMM and vision systems.
  • Acts as a liaison between sales, production, and the customer to facilitate effective problem solving and corrective action activities.
  • Serve as a technical lead on critical jobs that require extra engineering oversight.
  • Participate in or leads design review meetings.
  • Collaborate with others to evaluate and trouble-shoot design issues.
  • Work with Tool & Die Makers and EDM Programmer to ensure proper application of design.
  • Plan and design tools and fixtures as appropriate to support manufacturing processes.
  • Works closely with mechanics to understand use of die tools in stamping presses.
  • Leads and initiates continuous improvement projects throughout the plant.
  • Follow proper safety procedures and wear required protective equipment.
  • Maintain good housekeeping and organization in work area.
  • Monitor costing and scheduling related to manufacturing processes.
  • Performing other duties as required.

Job Requirements

  • Proficient in Autodesk 2D and 3D modeling software (or equivalent).
  • Experience with CAM software; programming experience preferred.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good analytical thinking skills and math skills.
  • Ability to read blueprints and other technical documents.
  • Proficient in the interpretation of GD&T requirements.
  • Experience with vision and CMM inspection equipment; programming experience preferred.
  • Ability to use and understand precision measuring tools.
  • Excellent trouble-shooting and creative problem-solving skills required.
  • Ability to work independently and to collaborate with others.
  • Familiarity with AS9100 Quality Management Systems preferred.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, or other technical field preferred.
  • A minimum of 2+ years’ experience in a precision manufacturing environment; aerospace industry preferred.
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of Employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
