Job Title: Licensed Professional Counselor

Location: Fortune School of Education, Sacramento, CA

Assignment Length: 2024-2025 School Year (ASAP Start)

Shift/Hours: 37.5 hours per week, aligned with school bell schedule

Department: General Education & Special Education Support

Job Summary:

Fortune School of Education is seeking a Licensed Professional Counselor to provide comprehensive mental health services to students across both General Education and Special Education departments. The counselor will play a critical role in fostering students’ social-emotional development, addressing behavioral challenges, and supporting overall well-being.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individual and group counseling services to students, addressing emotional, behavioral, and social concerns.
  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and families to develop intervention strategies that support student success.
  • Conduct assessments to determine students' mental health and behavioral needs.
  • Develop and implement behavior intervention plans in collaboration with the SPED team.
  • Support crisis intervention efforts, including risk assessments and referrals to appropriate resources.
  • Assist in the development of 504 Plans and IEPs by providing mental health recommendations.
  • Lead social-emotional learning initiatives and school-wide mental health programs.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of student interactions and interventions.
  • Conduct staff training on mental health topics, trauma-informed practices, and behavioral strategies.
  • Adhere to all district, state, and federal regulations regarding student privacy and ethical counseling practices.

Qualifications:

  • Required License: Pupil Personnel Services (PPS) Credential
  • Education: Master’s degree in Counseling, Psychology, or a related field
  • Experience providing school-based counseling services to diverse student populations
  • Strong understanding of child and adolescent development, behavioral interventions, and crisis response
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with both General Education and Special Education students
  • Knowledge of special education laws, including IDEA and Section 504
  • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus
