Role Overview:
Ensure editorial content in our print and digital products is of the highest quality by following the direction of the executive managing editor and supporting daily assignments from the senior editorial team. Take active responsibility for making sure content is completed on time, accurate, engaging and interesting. Create connections with our communities by regularly attending events, meeting readers, interviewing subjects and bringing new ideas back to the creative operations team.

Key Responsibilities (Accountabilities)

Print
- Write short feature stories for our lifestyle publications and websites, as assigned
- Oversee departments for each city magazine and edit/fact check assigned stories
- Support and help train interns once settled into the role. Work with the intern program leader overseeing editorial interns on a daily basis.
- Proof all assigned stories before magazines release to printer
- Research story ideas and support new ideation with senior team
- Represent the magazines at community events on a regular basis, taking photos for the print magazines as well as photos/video footage for our media library (social and print use).
- Bring energy and an outgoing personality to the team and outside community to best represent the brand and build lasting relationships
Digital/Multimedia
- Engage in SEO development to contribute editorially to our city magazine websites and social media channels, uploading blog posts and evergreen content as well as posting and engaging on the city magazine social media channels
- Assist digital growth strategist in implementation of digital strategies in order to build our online audiences. This may include:
- Supporting Content Producer in maintaining up-to-date directories (schools, camps, recreation, drinks, etc.)
- Support Content Producer on the digital event calendar - keeping the entries up to date.
- Support Content Producer on completing weekly e-newsletters
General
- Answer phones in the office whenever possible. Route calls appropriately (shared responsibility). Greet walk-in office visitors with professionalism.
- Regular event coverage expected. Some evening and weekend work required.
- Complete various other admin tasks as approved by head editors and VP of Operations.

Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in journalism or similar field. Previous publication/magazine experience is a plus/preferred.
- Proficiency with AP Style and common grammar rules.
- Strong organizational skills and time-management skills.
- An obsessive attention to detail and commitment to high-quality and accurate products.
- A proficiency in using Mac computers. Experience working in InDesign, Wordpress, Instagram and Facebook is a plus.
- A familiarity with our products.
