Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON)

Location: Southaven, MS

Salary: $80,000- $85,000

Schedule : 40 hours per week; occasional weekends.

Reports to the Director of Nursing.

We are conducting a search for a dynamic Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) to join a mission-driven team dedicated to transforming lives. This pivotal role supports nursing operations, ensures regulatory compliance, and fosters a culture of excellence in patient care.


As the Assistant Director of Nursing, you will play a key role in overseeing both inpatient and outpatient operations (minimal outpatient involvement), ensuring the seamless delivery of high-quality care. This leadership position provides the opportunity to support a skilled nursing team while directly contributing to improved patient outcomes. With a focus on leadership, collaboration, and compliance, you will help shape the future of care in behavioral health and recovery.


Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee both inpatient and outpatient nursing operations as assigned by the Director of Nursing, with a primary focus on inpatient care and minimal outpatient involvement.
  • Manage daily nursing activities to ensure seamless operations and delivery of high-quality patient care.
  • Supervise, mentor, and support nursing staff, including RNs and LPNs, fostering a collaborative and professional work environment.
  • Monitor and report on patient flow metrics, including an average of 5 admissions, 3 discharges, and 2 transfers to outpatient care per day (January MTD metrics).
  • Collaborate on the development and implementation of individualized care plans to meet patient needs.
  • Conduct regular audits and reviews to ensure compliance with regulatory standards, including health, safety, and accreditation requirements.
  • Prepare for and participate in audits, inspections, and surveys by regulatory agencies.
  • Provide staff orientation, ongoing training, and professional development to address educational and performance needs.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of nursing activities and patient care.
  • Communicate effectively with interdisciplinary teams, including medical, counseling, and administrative staff, to support cohesive patient care.
  • Assist in budget management, resource allocation, and operational planning within the nursing department.
  • Provide leadership coverage for weekend operations as needed, ensuring continuity of care and staff support.
  • Act as the leader of the nursing department in the absence of the Director of Nursing.


Qualifications

  • Active RN license in Mississippi.
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) required, master’s degree in nursing or healthcare administration bonus.
  • 3-5 years of nursing experience.
  • Experience in Detox and Behavioral Health
  • Strong leadership and decision-making skills in a clinical setting.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities to engage with staff, patients, and stakeholders.
  • In-depth knowledge of nursing protocols, healthcare regulations, and best practices.
  • Proven ability to multitask and thrive in high-pressure environments.
