Job Summary:
We are seeking a strategic and results-driven Procurement Manager to establish and lead our new procurement department. This role is pivotal in developing and implementing procurement strategies for direct materials, ensuring cost-efficiency, supplier performance, and alignment with the company's operational goals. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in procurement, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to build processes and teams from the ground up.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and Implement Procurement Strategies:
- Develop procurement policies, processes, and systems to ensure compliance and efficiency.
- Build a spending tracker for all direct materials and develop a procurement strategy with our external manufacturer.
- Supplier Management:
- Identify, evaluate, and manage relationships with suppliers to ensure the procurement of high-quality materials at competitive prices. Negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing with suppliers.
- Develop and execute strategies for buying and delivering materials to support external manufacturing needs
- Cost Optimization: Monitor market trends and conduct cost analysis to identify opportunities for cost reduction and value improvement without compromising quality.
- Risk Management: Assess and mitigate risks associated with the supply chain and procurement process. Develop contingency plans to ensure consistent supply in case of disruptions.
- Inventory Management: Collaborate with the supply chain and production teams to ensure proper inventory levels, reduce excess stock, and ensure timely material availability.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, standards, and corporate policies related to procurement activities.
- Performance Metrics: Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure procurement efficiency, supplier performance, and overall cost savings.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, including R&D, Quality, and Finance, to align procurement activities with company goals and projects.
- Continuous Improvement: Lead initiatives to improve procurement processes, enhance efficiency, and drive innovation within the supply chain.
Professional Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master's degree or professional certification (e.g., CPSM, CIPS) is a plus.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in direct procurement, preferably within the CPG industry.
- Proven track record of successful negotiation and supplier management.
- Strong understanding of supply chain management, procurement processes, and market dynamics.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to influence and collaborate across all levels of the organization.
- Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
