Job Overview
We are seeking a passionate and skilled Executive Sous Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the food industry and possess excellent leadership abilities. As a Sous Chef, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Head Chef in managing kitchen operations, ensuring high-quality food preparation, and maintaining a positive dining experience for our guests. This position requires creativity, attention to detail, and a commitment to culinary excellence.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Head Chef in daily kitchen operations and menu planning.
- Supervise kitchen staff, ensuring proper training and adherence to food safety standards.
- Manage inventory control, including ordering supplies and minimizing waste.
- Prepare and present high-quality dishes in accordance with restaurant standards.
- Collaborate with the culinary team to develop new recipes and enhance existing menus.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area.
- Ensure compliance with health regulations and safety standards.
- Handle shift management duties, including scheduling staff and overseeing daily tasks.
- Follow company procedures for inadequate behaviors amongst staff members
- Train and develop kitchen personnel in procedures, policies, and the safe operation of equipment, utensils, and machinery
- Expedite food orders from kitchen stations to ala carte upscale dining room
- Understand and follow our food allergy procedures and special orders/dietary restrictions
- Identify, address, and document individual employee performance problems
- Assign and enforce operational goals for kitchen staff
- Participate in weekly banquet meetings for upcoming events
- Assist with banquets and catering events
- Assist in inventory counts and ensure accurate inventory
- Meet daily with appropriate Manager/Chef to coordinate and ensure production standards for service that evening
Requirements
- Proven experience in a culinary role within the food service or hospitality industry.
- Excellent skills in menu planning, inventory control, and supervising kitchen staff.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to foster teamwork within the kitchen.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends.
