Job Description

Summary: The General Manager has full operational responsibility for the facility, including operations, maintenance, engineering, and office management within the plant. This role requires a leader who can manage a diverse staff, prioritize safety, drive continuous improvement, and uphold a standard of operational and quality excellence.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities : Include, but are not limited to, the following:

•Oversee plant daily operations including production schedules and inventory management.

•Must strive to achieve maximum equipment utilization, pre-tax profit, and organic sales growth according to the financial plan.

•Must maintain a detailed working knowledge of the financial plan for the plant.

•Promote a Continuous Improvement environment and activities.

•Develop and improve processes as necessary to improve accuracy and quality.

•Work with leadership to execute a strategic plan.

•Maintain all safety and certificates as required by state and local levels.

•Support sales effort, quoting, pricing, and market penetration in conjunction with plant BDM.

•Comply with, promote, and enforce environmental, health, and safety (EHS) rules, regulations, company policies, and laws.

•Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment.

•Maintain equipment and facility.

•Promote and practice timely and accurate communication, verbally and in writing.

•Hire, motivate, and retain a quality-oriented and productive workforce.

•Integrate employee development through training and mentoring.

•Promote and practice teamwork with other plants and corporate staff.

•Must work in a manner consistent with the organization’s quality and production objectives.

•Must be an advocate for the organization, customers, employees, and communities.

•Performs other duties as dictated by position or required by COO.

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each essential duty. The requirements are listed below:

•Education – A college degree is preferred with advanced training in operations, management skills, finance, metallurgy, quality, safety, and environmental management.

•Proven experience (5+ years) in a leadership role within a manufacturing environment, preferably involving heat treatment processes.

•Language Skills - Must communicate effectively via oral and written communication.

•Some travel is necessary.

•Must be a self-starter and able to work with minimal supervision

•Must have basic math and measuring skills

•Must have a valid Driver’s License

•Must exhibit a positive attitude and be a proven team player

•Must be able to work extended hours and be available for weekend work as production dictates

•Be physically able to move inventory throughout the shop and fixture parts.

•Must demonstrate proficient computer literacy and have experience with Microsoft office and Outlook.

 

 

Physical Demands: Must be able to move inventory throughout the shop. May experience periods of prolonged sitting, standing, walking, etc. 

 

Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this Job, the General Manager will be involved in both an office and industrial setting. When performing work in the industrial setting, the GM may be exposed to extreme heat, exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, outside weather conditions, and extreme cold. The noise level in the work environment may be loud. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
