About the Role: This position reports to the Maintenance and Engineering Manager and is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing control systems to ensure the efficient operation of the equipment and machinery. This position will work closely with our maintenance and engineering teams to optimize system performance, troubleshoot issues, and provide solutions to enhance overall safety and productivity.

Your Responsibilities:

• Solve complex and highly technical problems.
• Maintain a high level of creativity and autonomy to enhance and uphold new and existing processes.
• Improve current processes to optimize efficiency and profitability.
• Create work instructions, control plans, and conduct process flow/failure analysis.
• Assist in troubleshooting issues on both new and existing equipment.
• Lead and coordinate activities with cross-functional teams to achieve process improvement goals.
• Develop control systems to enhance the safety, productivity, and quality of production lines.
• Guide technical staff in repairing and improving manufacturing equipment.
• Adhere to all safety and quality guidelines and protocols to maintain a safe working environment including but not limited to adhering to all PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) requirements, immediate incident reporting, and adherence to both Safety Cardinal Rules and Quality Cardinal Rules, among others.
• Promote, support, and enforce Western’s Safety, Quality, Governance, regulatory and ISO 9001 standards as they apply.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall success of the team.

Required Experience and Qualifications:

• Solutions oriented and analytical.
• Experience in a continuous process such as aluminum extrusion and production preferred.
• Project management and planning.
• Technical engineering and design skills.
• Demonstrated communication, organization, and project management skills.
• Experienced with AC & DC electrical systems up to 480 volts.
• Experienced with Allen Bradley PLCs, RSLogix 5000, Studio 5000, and FactoryTalk View Studio.
• Experienced with AC Drives and motor controls.
• Experienced with Ethernet/IP networking.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD Electrical a plus.
• Familiarity with industrial safety and NFPA 70E a plus.

What You Will Bring:

• B.S. in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or similar) from an accredited program 5+ years’ experience working in industrial engineering/maintenance (would potentially look at candidates without a degree, but would like 10+ years’ experience including time in an engineering role).
• Strong analytical and project management skills.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to perform Essential Duties and Responsibilities listed above.
• Promote, support, and enforce ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standards as they apply to the facility.

Work Environment: Responsibilities are carried out in both indoor settings and in the plant, an unregulated environment that experiences extreme temperatures and high levels of noise, including but not limited to other uncontrollable factors.
