Director of Communications and Public Affairs/ecomaine/Portland, Maine
We are working with our client ecomaine in seeking a Director of Communications to join their team, to be based in the Portland Office. Although experience in recycling and solid waste management is not required, a passion for the industry is!
Requirements of the Director of Communications:
- Proven leader, motivator and experience in managing a staff in the area of communications
- Duties require knowledge of all aspects of public relations, marketing as well as advocacy
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field
- 5 – 10 years’ experience
- Highly skilled in social media and other platforms
- Exceptional writing skills including speech writing, presentations and remarks
- Solid experience in standard computer programs as well as google analytics, WordPress, hubSpot and others
- Valid State of Maine driver’s license and current insurance

Responsibilities of Director of Communications:
- Provides support to the General Manager and the management team in areas of communication and public affairs
- Brand management
- Campaign and project management
- Grant writing, administration and management
- Manages a staff that provides outreach, education and program development
- Produces positive publicity about ecomaine for all audiences
- Social media
- Creates content, updates and manages company website and apps
- Plans, creates and directs development of communications programs for the organization
- Interfaces with the general public, the Board of Directors communities and governmental entities
- Acts as a liaison with the media
- Ability to work on weekends and evenings when required
