Appalachian Regional Healthcare (ARH) is searching for a visionary leader for the role of Psychiatry Residency Program Director. This is a unique opportunity to spearhead the creation of ARH's inaugural ACGME-accredited Psychiatry Residency Program.


About Appalachian Regional Healthcare (ARH): ARH is a not-for-profit health system operating 14 hospitals across Kentucky and West Virginia, along with multi-specialty physician practices, home health agencies, and retail pharmacies. As the largest provider of care and the single largest employer in southeastern Kentucky, ARH is dedicated to improving health and promoting well-being in Central Appalachia.


Position Overview: As the Psychiatry Residency Program Director, you will lead the development of a world-class residency program from the ground up. This pivotal role involves designing the program's curriculum, recruiting the first cohort of residents, assembling a dedicated faculty team, and ensuring the program meets ACGME accreditation standards.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement a comprehensive Psychiatry Residency Program, tailored to community and institutional needs.
  • Lead the accreditation process with ACGME, ensuring all requirements are met.
  • Recruit, select, and mentor the program’s first residents and faculty.
  • Foster an environment that prioritizes resident education, professionalism, and patient care excellence.
  • Serve as a role model and leader, aligning the program with the mission of ARH and community values.


Requirements:

  • Experience: At least 3 years in an educational or administrative role, with a track record of innovation in medical education.
  • Certification: Board-certified in Psychiatry (ABPN or equivalent).
  • Leadership: Visionary leader with exceptional organizational and communication skills.
  • Commitment: Passion for building programs that make a difference in graduate medical education.
