Vice President, External Global Communications - Retail


Our Client a leading global retail organization committed to delivering exceptional customer experiences and driving innovation in the retail industry. With a strong presence in markets worldwide, they are dedicated to offering quality products and services that enhance the lives of their customers.


They are seeking a dynamic and strategic communications professional to join their team as the Vice President of External Global Communications for Retail. This position will report into the Global Chief Communications Officer. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for developing and executing comprehensive external communication strategies to enhance the company's global reputation, promote its retail initiatives, and engage key stakeholders.


  • Develop and implement a global external communication strategy aligned with the company's retail goals and objectives.
  • Provide strategic counsel to executive leadership on communication matters, ensuring alignment with overall business strategy.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with key global media outlets to secure positive coverage and manage potential reputational risks.
  • Develop and distribute press releases, media kits, and other materials to ensure accurate representation of the company's retail initiatives.
  • Build and maintain relationships with external stakeholders, including industry associations, influencers, and advocacy groups.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure consistent messaging and communication across all retail channels.
  • Develop and refine key messages that highlight the company's retail achievements, innovations, and commitment to customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure brand consistency in all external communications, including marketing materials, press releases, and public statements.
  • Lead crisis communication efforts related to retail issues, working closely with internal teams to develop and execute effective response plans.
  • Implement proactive measures to anticipate and mitigate potential reputational challenges.
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) for external communication initiatives and regularly assess the effectiveness of communication strategies.
  • Use data and insights to refine communication approaches and drive continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 12 years of experience in corporate communications, with a focus on retail or related industries.
  • Proven track record of developing and executing successful global external communication strategies.
  • Strong media relations skills and a deep understanding of global retail trends.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling narratives for diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience, including managing teams and collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Crisis communication expertise and the ability to navigate high-pressure situations with confidence.
