Adopt A Family is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) dedicated to strengthening families with children to achieve stability and self-sufficiency. Position Overview :
The Communications Coordinator is responsible for crafting and managing all agency communications. As a key part of the agency's Development Department, the Coordinator will execute all written and electronic communications as well as manage the agency's social media presence, website, and photos. Compensation is commensurate with education and experience.
Essential Functions:
Social Media and Website
•Manage all agency social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube)
•Plan social media calendar and manage all public engagement with social media channels
•Maintain agency website (WordPress). Keep content current and work with tech support company as needed
•Cultivate relationships with agency staff and partner agencies to develop content
•Plan, execute, and send e-newsletter to agency supporters once per month and on special occasions as assigned
•Manage agency's blog (generate ideas, write stories, select photos, publish and promote posts)
•Monitor agency's Gmail account, Google analytics, etc.
Print Media
•Execute four print newsletters per year (content selection, copy, photos, layout, revisions, and communication with graphic designer)
•Assist with targeted print projects and mailings including but not limited to brochures, fundraising appeals, etc.
•Work closely with supervisor to create and execute the agency's Annual Report from start to finish
•Take photos at agency events (average of 1-2 times per week)
•Document agency events and day-to-day operations through photographs, and organize and maintain agency photo library
Agency Communications Strategy
•Generate engaging content for all forms of agency communications
•Contribute to marketing and branding strategies for agency
•Develop agency's social media strategy
•Analyze and report on communications performance measures to agency management and provide suggestions for improvement
•Pursue opportunities for skill growth, including conferences and virtual trainings related to nonprofit operations, communications, social media, marketing, content strategy, homeless/housing trends, etc.
Development
•Assist with special events, volunteers, and community engagement opportunities as assigned
•Ensure all communications are delivered in a timely manner
•Support Development Department's fundraising efforts
•Stay up to date on research, news, and trends/issues that impact agency programs
•Provide administrative support to Grants and Communications Manager and Development Department as needed
Requirements
•Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing or a related field
•Three (3) years' experience managing social media/communications channels
•Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Mailchimp, Canva, Constant Contact, and WordPress
•Knowledge and application of emerging trends in social media, web design, and communications
•Knowledge of and ability to perform photo editing and formatting for web-based platforms
•A keen attention to detail and an ability to prioritize multiple deadlines while meeting goals
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills
•Excellent networking skills with staff, volunteers, board members, partner agencies, funders, etc.
•Ability to tailor writing style to different mediums (social media, blogs, formal print pieces, letters to donors, etc.)
•Ability to work in a team environment and high paced nonprofit setting
•Ability to identify and implement new ideas
•Graphic design and photography/videography skills preferred
•Ability to learn and master multiple software applications quickly
•Ability to adapt to and accept changes as required
•Ability to use standard office equipment
•Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
Working Conditions
•Work is performed in a standard office environment
Physical Requirements
•Prolonged periods of sitting
•Able to lift over your head and bend
•Able to lift a minimum of 25 pounds
•Able to travel to locations as needed
Salary is $50,000.00 and includes employer paid medical, dental, and vision
Salary Description
$50,000 annually
