The Registered Nurse (RN) in the MedSurg, Trauma department works part-time nights providing care for surgical and trauma patients in a level 2 trauma center. The nurse is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care while collaborating with the healthcare team. Required qualifications include a nursing program graduation, a current Georgia RN license, and BLS certification, with preference for candidates with hospital experience.

The surgery unit has 29 beds. Our dynamic patient population includes surgical, trauma and a variety of medical patients. Our surgeries typically involve the neck to the gut. This population includes GI surgeries such as colon resections, small bowel resections, cholecystectomies and appendectomies. We also care for vascular surgeries, mastectomies, thyroidectomies and maxillofacial procedures, etc. Patients may have an ostomy, NGT and/or other feeding tube and/or drains. Trauma patients may have multiple injuries, chest tubes, a tracheostomy and/or other drains, but have stabilized enough for a non-ICU/step down med-surg floor admission. We are a level 2 trauma center.

RESPONSIBLE FOR:
The staff nurse provides nursing care to patients from birth through the lifecycle utilizing nursing processes to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the care for patients. He/she functions within the framework of the policies and procedures of the organization and demonstrates professional growth and accountability. The staff nurse is responsible for maintaining standards of practice, coordinating patient care activities of all assigned staff in the provision of quality nursing care.

Qualifications:
MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:
Graduate of a nursing program

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
New Graduates of a nursing program eligible

MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW:
Current License in the State of Georgia as a Registered Nurse or NLC/eNLC Multistate License.
BLS certification required.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
For PRN positions: One year of nursing experience in a hospital setting preferred
Bachelors degree preferred
Advanced certification in field of specialty, if applicable (see addendum)
Nursing Experience in Hospital Setting Preferred
