Role Purpose Statement

We are looking for a dynamic Vice President of Operations to drive excellence, profitability, and innovation for our Chicago operations. This role has full P&L accountability and the opportunity to shape our success in a competitive, fast-paced environment. This position reports to the SVP Operations West Market.

Location: Des Plaines, IL (near Chicago OHare International Airport)

Main Accountabilities

What Youll Do:

Strategic Leadership

  • Define and implement the Customer Service Center (CSC) strategy in alignment with regional goals.
  • Drive business development and long-term growth strategies for the Chicago market.
  • Partner with cross-functional leaders to ensure seamless integration of operations, sales, and customer service.

Operational Excellence

  • Oversee all operational aspects, including production, quality, safety, and compliance with corporate and local regulations.
  • Optimize human, technical, financial, and material resources to achieve operational and financial targets.
  • Develop and execute plans for continuous process improvement using lean methodologies.
  • Maintain strict adherence to global operations standards such as HACCP, Lean Manufacturing, and Global Quality Standards (GQS).

Team Leadership

  • Build, develop, and mentor a high-performing team, fostering a culture of accountability and collaboration.
  • Ensure effective workforce planning, including managing union relations and promoting employee engagement.
  • Serve as a coach and leader, guiding employees through career development and change initiatives.

Financial Stewardship

  • Own the P&L for the Chicago facility, ensuring the delivery of financial objectives.
  • Implement budget planning, forecasting, and corrective actions to optimize performance.
  • Manage procurement and supply chain activities in alignment with corporate standards.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience

What Were Looking For:

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelors degree in business, operations, or a related field (MBA preferred).
  • 10+ years of progressive leadership in manufacturing, with food production or airline industry experience strongly preferred.
  • Proven success managing multi-site or large-scale operations.
  • Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing and operational excellence frameworks.
  • Experience in P&L management, strategic planning, and business development.

Skills

  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proven track record in leading cross-functional and international teams.
  • Expertise in change management and driving cultural transformation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and operational systems.

Salary: The starting base pay for this position ranges from $155,000-205,000. Base pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition to base pay, this role includes an executive incentive plan and other financial benefits as part of the total compensation package. This role is eligible to participate in a full range of medical and wellness benefits on day one of employment.
