A Primary Care Physician in a correctional facility responsible for ensuring high-quality medical and nursing care for inmates. This role includes developing policies, conducting sick calls, and coordinating care between jail medical staff and inmates' primary care physicians. The physician will also oversee medical equipment, facilitate inspections, and maintain compliance with medical accreditation standards.
Assist the Sheriffs office with developing and implementing policies that assure high quality medical and nursing care. Chronic care, Convalescent care, and monthly and annual reportsDetermine the type of equipment and supplies necessary to equip the jail first aid kits,the number, location and procedure for periodic inspection.Provide at least one doctor at the Jail five days a week for aminimum of three hours beginning at 8:30 a.m. on each of these days for normalsick call and or as necessary to maintain medical accreditation standards. A physiciansassistant may be utilized at times to fill in for vacation or sick time as agreed upon by the Sheriff or his designee.At the request of jail command staff or medical supervisor, an additional day of sickcall may be requested during periods of high population.Act as direct liaison between jail medical staff and an inmates primary carephysician and direct coordination of care.The medical supervisor shall attend all jail medical meetings. Medical supervisorshall work on-site and shall present for any inspections related to medical servicesprovided in the Jail.
