Job Description
Traveling Construction Superintendent
Columbia Sussex is a hotel developer, owner/operator with over 50 years' experience developing and managing properties throughout the US and Caribbean. We are currently searching for a Traveling Construction Superintendent to manage hotel renovation and construction throughout the country. Columbia Sussex will manage the complete project as design-build; we will contract all consultants and contractors. As a Traveling Superintendent at Columbia Sussex, you will oversee the daily operations on construction project sites, ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and in accordance with safety and quality standards. You will work closely with project managers, contractors, and other stakeholders to coordinate and supervise all construction activities from start to finish.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience supervising commercial construction. Preferable experience in the hospitality construction industry.
  • Strong knowledge of building products, construction details, and relevant rules, regulations, and quality standards.
  • Excellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations.
  • Knowledge of building codes.
  • Ability to understand construction drawings.
  • Ability to work independently from management with a computer and smart phone.
  • Proficiency with MS Office and Email. MS Project, MS Teams and Bluebeam knowledge a plus.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and ability to travel extensively.
Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate and direct all construction activities on the project.
  • Work with the manager to create overall construction schedule and push schedule to completion.
  • Ability to make informed decisions regarding day-to-day operation.
  • Create a safe work site by implementing company and OSHA regulations.
  • Create inspection logs and schedule inspections as required.
  • Create jobsite logistics plans to include load times, crane times, load access, dumpster locations, etc.
  • Work directly with contracted consultants to answer field RFIs.
  • Keep all drawings, RFIs, and submittals up to date.
  • Run weekly project coordination meetings with other managers.
  • Work with managers to create and execute bid packages from bidding to contracting.
  • Manage subcontractors and construction crews, ensuring clear communication and professional conduct.
  • Conduct quality control inspections to ensure adherence to all building requirements.
  • Coordinate the procurement of materials and ensure machinery and equipment are available as needed.
  • Prepare and submit project status reports, updating management on the progress, changes, and issues.
  • Resolve any conflicts that arise and provide solutions to minimize project delays.

Salary :
$90,000-$100,000 per year
