Overview
The Assistant Director of Nursing's (ADON) manages, supervises, and coordinates the nurse aides by performing the following duties personally or through other nurses.

ADON Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Selects, schedules, assigns, and evaluates staff, adjusting hours and shifts as necessary.
Enters schedule into Paycor.
Processes Payroll.
Coordinates all agency staff information.
Interviews, hires, and disciplines nurse aides.
Orients new staff and assures that training and education needs of staff are met.
Coordinates unit or clinic activities and the work assignments of staff members.
Evaluates activities of unit to ensure resident care, staff relations, and efficiency of service.
Required to assure staffing meets the needs of the residents.
Develops, implements, and evaluates departmental policies, goals, and objectives through the CQI process.
Participates in the development and modifications of unit programs.
Interprets and enforces department and institution policies.
Participates in the development and monitoring of departmental budget.
Participates in appropriate department committees.
Investigates and resolves complaints, or refers unusual problems to superior.
Handles computer electronic charting duties as assigned.
Prepares folders and maintains records of newly admitted residents.
Reviews medical records for completeness, assembles records into standard order, and files records in designated areas according to applicable alphabetic and numeric filing systems.
Locates, signs out, and delivers medical records requested by departments.
Responds to requests for information from files according to established policies and procedures.
Compiles statistical data such as admissions, discharges, deaths, births, and types of treatment given.
Operates computer to enter and retrieve data and type correspondence and reports.
Assists with survey documentation preparation.
Scans materials or copies records, and examines materials for legibility.
Selects and packages files for movement, transfer, and permanent storage.
*Maintain the confidentiality of all resident, staff and organization information.
ADON Supervisory Responsibilities
Directly supervises the Nurse Aides. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Qualifications

Education and/or Experience
One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Must hold active RN license.
