Position Overview
The Interior Designer will be a key contributor to our remodeling projects, working closely with clients and their internal team to create thoughtful and functional designs. This role involves leading clients through the design process and ensuring that design intent is carried through to project completion. The Interior Designer will collaborate within a team-based approach, working alongside a Project Manager, Estimator, and a Design Coordinator to execute projects efficiently and uphold PHC’s standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Document existing job conditions for new design clients.
- Develop conceptual designs to facilitate client decisions.
- Guide clients through the selection of materials, finishes, fixtures, and other design elements.
- Finalize design selections and make adjustments to the design packet to include final FFE selections.
- Present design concepts to clients.
- Adjust drawings and coordinate meetings as needed to meet project timelines.
- Attend regular team meetings to provide updates and ensure project alignment.
- Work closely with the Project Coordinator and Project Manager to ensure design intent is maintained throughout construction.
- Communicate critical design details via the design packet to trade contractors to prevent rework and ensure accuracy in execution.
- Coordinate and communicate with the Project Manager on design-related changes and their implications.
- Schedule and lead Design to Project Development Handoff meetings.
- Alongside the Project Developer, present new construction projects monthly at all employee team meetings.
- Conduct site visits to oversee design implementation and quality control.
- Work closely with the Project Manager, trade contractors, and clients to ensure proper installation of key design elements (e.g., tile layouts, cabinetry, countertop overhangs, lighting).
- Provide ongoing client communication to ensure satisfaction throughout the project.
- Participate in subcontractor walk-through meetings, as needed, to ensure accurate pricing for design elements.
- Communicate any specialized design details that require specific trade contractors or vendors.
- Support the marketing team in project photography and selection for promotional materials.
- Attend industry events, trade shows, and continuing education opportunities as needed.
- Maintain professional accreditations and participate in award submissions for notable projects.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in residential remodeling, custom home design, or related field.
- Strong knowledge of materials, finishes, cabinetry, lighting, and space planning.
- Proficiency in design software (AutoCAD, SketchUp, Chief Architect, or similar).
- Experience with project management and CRM software is a plus.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and client relationship skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team-oriented environment.
- Detail-oriented with a passion for craftsmanship and quality.
