Senior City Planner to join a passionate and dynamic team dedicated to building a vibrant and thriving Saint Paul. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to meaningful city planning initiatives while growing professionally and serving the community.
As part of the
Long-Range Planning Team within PED's Planning Division, the Senior City Planner will:
- Lead research, plan, and policy development to support city planning goals.
- Collaborate with senior planning staff, mentor junior staff, and support interdepartmental teams.
- Conduct community outreach and facilitate collaboration with stakeholders.
- Serve as staff to Planning Commission committees, task forces, and technical committees.
- Represent planning initiatives to the Planning Commission, City Council, and Mayor's Office.
This position involves drafting and editing plans, zoning code, reports, and presentations, and contributing to long-range initiatives such as the Comprehensive Plan and neighborhood planning.
The successful candidate will demonstrate: - Expertise in urban planning, community engagement, and policy development.

Position Requirements A Bachelor's Degree in Urban Planning, Public Affairs, Public Administration, or a closely-related field, and four years of experience as a City Planner or equivalent.
A Master's Degree in Urban Planning or a closely-related field and two years of experience as a City Planner or equivalent is preferred.
