About the Role

The Company is seeking a Senior Director/Executive Director in Oligonucleotide Chemistry. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the development and execution of the oligonucleotide chemistry vision and strategy, with a focus on nucleosides, nucleotides, and oligonucleotide synthesis. This role requires a PhD in synthetic organic chemistry or process chemistry, a minimum of 12 years of relevant experience, and a deep understanding of modern synthetic chemistry methods as applied to nucleic acid therapeutics. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in oligonucleotide manufacturing, including experience with CRO and CMO capabilities and familiarity with GMP requirements. Contributions to IND, BLA, and regulatory filings are essential, as is the ability to lead a team in setting and achieving key milestones. Candidates for this position should have strong organizational leadership skills, the ability to identify emerging trends in the oligonucleotide therapeutics field, and a proactive approach to maintaining awareness of the competitive landscape. Experience with long oligos via chemical synthesis or ligation is desirable. The role also involves leading external manufacturing of oligos with CMOs to support GLP tox studies and IND submissions, as well as independently managing both internal teams and external CRO partners. The ideal candidate will be a collaborative leader, with a strong publication and patent record, and hands-on experience in driving technologies towards clinical applications, including knowledge related to IND filing.
