About the Role
The Company is seeking a General Counsel to join its executive leadership team and serve as a strategic partner in overseeing global legal functions. The successful candidate will be responsible for a wide range of legal matters, including corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, intellectual property, labor and employment, data governance, privacy incident management, and cybersecurity. This role requires a seasoned legal professional with a US-based law degree, a minimum of 20 years of legal experience, and a proven track record in building and leading high-performing teams. The General Counsel will also be involved in assessing and managing legal risks, developing proactive legal strategies, and ensuring the company's operations are in compliance with all legal requirements.Applicants for the General Counsel position at the company should possess excellent communication skills, the ability to convey complex legal issues clearly, and a strong desire to be part of a high-growth, transformational environment. The role demands a leader with solid managerial experience at the executive level, who can provide counsel to the executive team, Board of Directors, and senior management on all legal matters affecting the business. The ideal candidate will have a background in life sciences, with experience in an in-house legal role, relevant law firm experience, and/or government experience. Responsibilities also include overseeing the legal aspects of the company's M&A activities, managing the intellectual property portfolio, and working closely with the Head of IT on data security topics. The General Counsel will be expected to build and lead cross-functional legal teams, oversee the legal budget, and work with senior leadership to set and monitor the corporate strategy.
