Job Summary
The Core Software team is a high-performance engineering team responsible for building the fundamental software to manage the ONTAP software product. You will work as part of a team responsible for the development, testing and debugging of distributed software that drives NetApp cloud, hybrid-cloud and on premise solutions.
This position requires an individual to be creative, team-oriented, a quick learner and driven to produce results.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with team members on designing and implementing software with a focus on simplicity, reliability, and manageability using Python
- Participate in design, development, verification, troubleshooting, and delivery of test plans and automation.
- Create test environments for new products to run
- Act as QA lead for projects, including defining and documenting the test strategy, authoring user stories defining the backlog of work, providing clear and concise status, and proactively identifying and mitigating risks.
- Automate, execute, and debug unit, functional, integration, and performance tests
- Develop maintainable, efficient, and reliable software
- Participate in customer escalations
- Conduct and participate in technical discussions within the team as well as with other groups across Business Units in the company
- Provide guidance and mentoring to junior engineers on the team
Job Requirements
- Experience with software development lifecycle (design, implementation, testing)
- Familiarity with Unix based operating system kernels and development environments, e.g. Linux or FreeBSD.
- Participate in product design, development, verification, troubleshooting, and delivery of a system or major subsystems, including authoring project specifications?
- Write unit and automated integration?tests?
- Conduct?and participate in technical discussions within the team as well as with other groups across Business Units in the company?
- A strong understanding of basic to complex concepts related to computer architecture, data structures, and programming practices.
- Object-oriented systems?programming?
- Experience?working with file systems, distributed systems, client-server programming, multi-threaded applications,?and operating?systems such as FreeBSD,?Linux?
- Ability to?work under limited supervision and?direction??
- Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of software engineering practices and software design principles
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment of other engineers to meet aggressive goals and high quality standards
Qualifications
- A Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience, master’s degree is preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of software development experience

Compensation:
The target salary range for this position is 152,150 - 226,490 USD. The salary offered will be determined by the candidate's location, qualifications, experience, and education and may be outside of this range. Final compensation packages are competitive and in line with industry standards, reflecting a variety of factors, and include a comprehensive benefits package. This may cover Health Insurance, Life Insurance, Retirement or Pension Plans, Paid Time Off (PTO), various Leave options, Performance-Based Incentives, employee stock purchase plan, and/or restricted stocks (RSU’s), with all offerings subject to regional variations and governed by local laws, regulations, and company policies. Benefits may vary by country and region, and further details will be provided as part of the recruitment process.
