Nurse Practitioner - Thoracic Oncology - Full Time - 8 Hour - Days at John Muir Health summary:

The Nurse Practitioner in Thoracic Oncology at John Muir Medical Center is responsible for the comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of patients with thoracic malignancies. Collaborating with physicians, the NP delivers healthcare services including ordering diagnostic tests, developing treatment plans, and providing patient education on health and wellness. Required qualifications include a graduate degree from an accredited nurse practitioner program, relevant certifications, and experience in nursing, particularly in surgery or oncology.

Job Description: A Nurse Practitioner (NP) provides medical evaluation and treatment of John Muir Medical Center patients in collaboration with and under the direction of the Supervising Physician. The NP performs duties according to standardized procedures which have been developed collaboratively by John Muir Medical Center administration, medical staff, nursing, Supervising Physician, and Nurse Practitioners and approved by the Medical Executive Committee and the Governing Board. The NP is a registered nurse who possesses additional preparation and skills in physical diagnosis, psycho-social assessment, and management of health-illness needs. The NP assesses, diagnoses, and treats patients, provides information to patients on health maintenance and disease prevention, and counseling. The NP provides healthcare in a collegial relationship with physicians to patients at John Muir Medical Center.

Education:

  • Graduate of an Accredited School of Nurse Practitioner Program (MSN or DNP) - Required

Experience:

  • 3 years Nursing - Nurse Practitioner - Preferred

Additional Experience Requirements:

  • Must have experience in one of the following specialties: Surgery, Oncology.

Certifications/Licensures:

  • RN Registered Nursing - California Board of Nursing - Required and

  • NP Registered Nurse Practitioner - CA Board of Registered Nursing - Required and

  • NP-F Registered Nurse Practitioner Furnishing - CA Board of Registered Nursing - Required and

  • FNP Family Nurse Practitioner - ANCC American Nurses Credentialing Center - Required or

  • Related NP clinical license or certification through ANCC or

  • NP Nurse Practitioner - AANP American Academy of Nurse Practitioners - Required

  • DEA Drug Enforcement Agency - US Dept of Justice - Drug Enforcement Administration - Required

  • BLS Basic Life Support - American Heart Association - Required

Skills:

  • Conducting comprehensive assessments of patients with suspected or diagnosed thoracic malignancies.

  • Ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests

  • Developing and managing treatment plans

  • Makes daily hospital rounds on identified Surgery Patients in medical-surgical nursing units.

  • Performs procedures and assists with surgeries that are within the scope of practice.

  • Managing symptoms and side effects, such as dyspnea, pain, or fatigue.

  • Providing patient education on diseases processes, treatment options and supportive care.

  • Collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams

Work Shift: Exempt Days (Mon-Fri) (United States of America)

Pay Range:

$83.53 - $125.29 Hourly

Offer amounts are based on demonstrated/relevant experience and/or licensure. Pay will be adjusted to the local market if hired outside of the Bay Area .
Note: Positions at JMH which are exempt (not eligible for overtime) under the level of Manager are listed as hourly for compensation purposes on this posting. The work shift will contain the word 'exempt' on it.

Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40
