Obtains relevant patient history and uses information to guide testing performance.Explains procedure to the patient and demonstrates respect for the patient and family.Follows all patient safety guidelines and ensures a safe environment.Demonstrates knowledge and competency of medications and their effects on EEG studies.Displays competency of using the 10-20 international electrode placement system and head measurement.Precisely applies electrodes and recognizes and eliminates artifact by troubleshooting and correcting malfunctions.Selects appropriate amplification settings and montages, obtains quality data, ensuring technical quality regardless of patients age or disability.Monitors patients during testing and works under the supervision of physicians who are responsible for the interpretation and clinical correlation of results.Ability to analyze data during the recording to ensure validity and interpretability.Performs EEGs (routine, ambulatory, sleep-deprived) within the department as well as the bedside for adults and pediatrics.Job Requirements

2 years of Electroneurodiagnostic (END) technology experience.Excellent communication skills.Competent in head measurement and electrode placement.Competent in Routine, Sleep Deprived and Ambulatory EEG and Long-Term Monitoring and all evoked potentials and continuous ICU monitoring.Competent in clipping, pruning and data archiving.Competent in continuous monitoring of EMU EEG studies, including the ability to recognize events and immediately call for nursing response.Competent in Phase II long term monitoring, including intraoperative planning of grid and strip placement, programming of computer for grid and strip monitoring, maintaining and connecting phase II lead wires with cable interface, and dressing changes with Nurse Practitioner assistance.Competent in bedside functional mapping and EEG monitoring during WADA procedures as well as EEG digitization methods.Additional Details

Hospital experience preferred but not required.
