JOB SUMMARY

The Supervisor of Behavioral Health Services (BHS) supervises both outpatient and inpatient staff working with patients with emotional, mental and psychological disorders. The supervisor leads the team performing assessments and interventions per best practices.  Conducts audits to ensure compliance with policies, guidelines and regulations to improve effectiveness. Assists with training of staff.  Works with the Director to maintain staffing and day to day operations of the units. Practices within the framework of the Wyoming Nurse Practice Act and other professional standards.

 PRIMARY JOB DUTIES

  • Assists with staffing of units.
  • Works in conjunction with the Director and providers to update policies and procedures.
  • Is responsible for day to day operations of the units.
  • Assists the Director with discipline, hiring and timecards of staff.
  • Assists to ensure excellent customer care by investigating concerns and intervening as appropriate.
  • Ensures collaboration to provide age appropriate care for physical, psychosocial and spiritual needs of all BHS patients.
  • Performs audits as per performance improvement projects or regulations.
  • Ensures staff competencies are completed and assists in identifying and implementing educational trainings.
  • Assists Director in monthly staff meetings, roundings
  • Serves on committees as appointed
  • Allocates resources within budget and practices fiscal responsibility and accountability.
  • Helps staff utilize the electronic health record for documentation.
  • Complies with the hospital’s Corporate Compliance Program including, but not limited to, the Code of Conduct, laws and regulations, and hospital policies and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 JOB SPECIFICATIONS

  • Education
    • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • Licensure / Certifications
    • Current unrestricted Wyoming Registered Nurse (RN) license
    • See Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certification Policy and Certifications/Education Requirements Policy.
      • Per Wyoming State Board of Nursing licensure requirements for active license.
  • Experience
    • Leadership experience required
      • If RN must have a minimum of 2-3 years of nursing experience with preference in BHS nursing. 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Must possess excellent written and verbal skills. Able to function independently.
  • The ability to interact with the public, staff, medical staff, hospital staff, and board.
  • Must be able to operate a computer, printer, fax machine, adding machine, telephone system, typewriter and copy machine.
  • Requires sitting for long periods of time, lifting, standing, stooping and carrying items weighing up to 20 pounds.
  • Ability to compose written reports and correspondence. Ability to initiate projects and follow through independently. Organizes and prioritizes workload with minimal supervision. Requires both the coordination and completion of tasks under deadlines and exposure to stressful situations
