Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly organized Sales and Use Tax Accountant to manage multi-state sales, use, and seller tax compliance and personal property tax filings while also supporting general ledger and staff accounting functions. This role involves preparing and filing Sales, Use, and Seller Tax Returns and Personal Property Tax Returns in multiple states. Additionally, this position oversees corporate credit card administration, travel and expense (T&E) management, and financial reporting. The ideal candidate will have experience in tax compliance, general ledger accounting, and financial reconciliations.

Key Responsibilities:

Tax Compliance & Reporting

Prepare and file Sales, Use, and Seller Tax Returns in up to 30 states on a monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual basis.
File Personal Property Tax Returns across multiple states, including MI, KY, and GA.
Reconcile tax accounts and ensure timely payments to avoid penalties.
File Annual Reports to maintain corporate compliance.
Manage tax exemptions with vendors / suppliers.
Work with Tax Consultants for business entity filings and compliance requirements.
Conduct tax research and stay updated on changing state tax laws and regulations.
Assist with multi-state tax audits, including gathering documentation and responding to tax authorities.

Staff Accounting

Prepare and post journal entries.
Reconcile general ledger accounts, including sales tax payable, T&E accounts, and other indirect tax-related accounts.
Assist with month-end and year-end close processes.
Ensure financial statements accurately reflect tax liabilities and expenses.
Support account reconciliations, accruals, and adjustments as needed.
Assist with financial audits, ensuring compliance with GAAP and internal controls.

Corporate Credit Card & Expense Management

Oversee the PNC P-Card & T&E (Travel & Expense) Card Program, including:
Assigning new cards to employees.
Adding proxy users to cardholders.
Resetting passwords and managing user access.
Reviewing and approving credit limit increase requests.
Administer the Concur Expense Management System, including:
Adding new users and managing system permissions.
Troubleshooting and resolving system issues.
Reviewing and approving all T&E expense reports for compliance.
Reconciling monthly T&E statements to ensure accuracy and proper reporting.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Experience: 2+ years of experience in multi-state sales and use tax compliance, personal property tax, or general ledger accounting.
Skills & Knowledge:
Strong understanding of multi-state sales, use, seller, and personal property tax laws.
Experience filing tax returns across multiple jurisdictions (up to 30 states).
Experience with Concur, CSC, and corporate credit card administration.
Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with accounting ERP systems (sage, SAP, Crystal Reporting).
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
