- UT Health Tyler, the flagship hospital of the system, has 502 licensed beds specializing in advanced acute care medicine. Our hospital includes a 24-hour ER with Level 1 trauma center, a comprehensive stroke center, more than 500 physicians and a full complement of subspecialty groups.
Responsibilities - We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse ECMO (Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation) Specialist to join our newly developing ECMO program.
- The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years of experience in managing veno-venous (V-V), venoarterial (V-A) ECMO, Extracorporeal Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (ECPR), and ECMO transport.
- The ECMO Specialist functions independently following standing ECMO orders and parameters while under the direction of the ECMO Physician and ECMO APP.
- This role involves providing expert care to critically ill patients, ensuring optimal functioning of the ECMO circuit, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
- Additionally, you will be actively involved in research, education, and precepting as part of the program’s development.
Qualifications Job Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as an ECMO specialist in a critical care setting.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification is required.
- Succesful completion of an accredited school of respiratory therapy and have sucessfully completed the registry exammination for advanced level practitioners and be recognized as a Registered Respiratiry Therapist(RRT) by the National Board of Respiratory Care(NRBC).
Preferred Job Requirements:
- Cardiac Surgery Certification (CSC) and Certified ECMO Specialist - Adult (CES-A) certification are a
plus.
