Occupational Therapist

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Occupational Therapist leads, guides and directs the delivery of occupational therapy services in the facility in accordance with local, state and federal regulations, standards and established facility policies and procedures to provide appropriate care and services to patients/residents.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

None

Duties/Responsibilities:

Evaluates/Reevaluates/Discharge of patients
Plans, develops, organizes, implements, evaluates and directs the delivery of occupational therapy services as well as its programs and activities, in accordance with current state and federal laws and regulations, and respective practice act in the state.
Verifies client information by interviewing client, reviewing and recording medical history, confirming purpose of treatment.
Maintains patient occupational therapy records by recording clients progress for use by the occupational therapist.
Generates revenue by recording billing information of services rendered.
Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing, following, and enforcing standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations.
Serves and protects occupational therapy practice by adhering to professional standards, policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements.
Enhances occupational therapy practice reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
Adapt to the variety of settings and situations that occur in a rural healthcare setting

Physical Requirements:

Physically demanding, high-stress environment
Exposure to blood and body fluids, communicable diseases, chemicals, radiation, and repetitive motions
Pushing and pulling heavy objects
Full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients
Manual and finger dexterity
Hand and eye coordination
Standing and walking for extensive periods of time
Lifting and carrying items weighing up to 50 lbs

Required Skills/Abilities:

Must be a supportive team member, contribute to and be an example of teamwork.
Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the public.
Excellent customer service skills.
Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. Additional languages are preferred.
Proficient computing skills, specifically healthcare related billing platforms, and MS Office Products.
Subject to frequent interruptions.
Ability to travel between outlying clinics (Williston, ND) and hospital.
Must be able to pass a background check and drug screening.

Education/Experience:

Masters degree in occupational therapy

Licenses/Certifications:

Successfully pass the NBCOT (National Board Exam)
Occupational Therapy Licensure for the state of North Dakota
Current BCLS certification.
