The Psychology Department at The New School for Social Research seeks applicants for a faculty position in its Clinical Psychology program at the rank of either a tenure-track Assistant Professor or an Associate Professor with tenure.
The area of research specialization is open, as we primarily seek a colleague with innovative theoretical and methodological research approaches to join our collegial group of internationally respected clinical faculty. However, applicants with research foci in areas such as substance use, psychopathology, psychometrics, or individual differences, are particularly welcome.
The Clinical Psychology Doctoral program is fully accredited by the American Psychological Association, recently receiving a full ten years of accredited status following our site visit. Its Mission is to train scientist practitioners who are: (1) Competent at clinical practice (diagnostic assessment, case formulation, and intervention); (2) Engaged in contributing to scholarship (in all its forms) and strongly capable of impactful academic careers; (3) Grounded in the broader field of scientific psychology and capable of integrating scientific knowledge, clinical research and practice; and (4) Effective communicators about psychology with a wide range of individuals while acknowledging the influence of context, culture, development, and individual differences.
The Department of Psychology offers PhD programs in Clinical and Cognitive, Social, and Developmental Psychology, as well as a General MA program that includes an optional Concentration in Mental Health and Substance Abuse Counseling. Our faculty also teach in our active BA Psychology program at Lang College. Faculty should expect to teach both graduate and undergraduate students. Offices and research laboratories overlook Fifth Avenue and are two blocks from Union Square in New York City, in one of the most internationally diverse, intellectually stimulating, and culturally influential areas of the world.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Candidate will lead a research laboratory that produces empirical work that is impactful, significant, and in line with the mission of the clinical program.
They will support clinical training of doctoral students as core clinical faculty. Our teaching load consists of four classroom courses, with 2 graduate and 2 undergraduate courses, and dissertation supervision. Responsibilities also include standard departmental service.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Assistant-level applicants:
- Graduated from APA or PCSAS accredited program (or international equivalent)
- An active program of research with strong potential for excellence
- Previous experience supervising students in a research setting
- Commitment to a collegial departmental atmosphere for students and faculty
Associate-level applicants (all qualifications for assistant-level applicants plus):
- An active program of research with strong evidence of excellence, including a history of impactful publications and/or successful grantspersonship
- An established record of teaching and excellence in mentoring
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS - Licensed or license-eligible in the state of New York
- Previous success in procuring federal grant funding
- Previous experience supervising students in a clinical setting

SALARY RANGE Assistant Prof. $85K - $100K per annum
Associate Prof. $100K - $120K per annum
