Education Requirement - Graduation from an accredited Ultrasound Technology Program
Experience - 1+ years of experience working as an ultrasound technologist or;
- Successful completion of an ultrasound externship through an approved school,
License/Certifications - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) registered or board eligible required.
- One ARDMS application is required
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities - Knowledge of Ultrasound Technology: Understand basic ultrasound physics, instrumentation, and image acquisition techniques to perform diagnostic procedures effectively.
- Anatomy and Physiology : Solid understanding of human anatomy and physiology, particularly regarding organs and systems commonly evaluated in ultrasound exams (e.g., abdomen, vascular, OB/GYN).
- Patient Care Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with patients, explaining procedures, ensuring comfort, and addressing concerns during exams.
- Diagnostic Image Analysis: Capability to assess image quality and identify normal and abnormal findings based on imaging protocols, ensuring accurate diagnostic outcomes.
- Technical Troubleshooting: Basic ability to troubleshoot common technical issues with ultrasound equipment and ensure proper functioning during procedures.
- Adherence to Protocols: Familiarity with clinical protocols, safety standards, and best practices for maintaining patient safety and compliance with health regulations.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to accurately follow instructions and ensure precise measurement and documentation of images and patient information.
- Team Collaboration : Effective communication and collaboration with radiologists, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive patient care.
