Job Description
Position Title: Middle School Art Teacher
  1. ACCOUNTABILITY OBJECTIVES:
This person is responsible for teaching students and all of the requirements thereof that occur both inside and outside of the classroom.
  1. POSITION CHARACTERISTICS:
Recruited by: Administration
Wages and Benefits: Set annually by the Board of Education
Length of employment period: Per SEA negotiated agreement
Leave: Per SEA negotiated agreement
III. POSITION RELATIONSHIPS:
Reports to: Principal
Coordinates with: Superintendent, Principal, Assistant Principal, AD, Technology Coordinator, Business Manager, Professional Staff, Classified Staff, and Students.
  1. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
Required certification, experience, and training: The classroom teacher will meet all qualifications and behavior standards as set by the State of Nebraska and Seward Public Schools.
-Education: Minimum of BA/BS degree from an accredited college or university.
-Valid Nebraska Teacher's certificate (applicable level/area endorsements preferred).
-Completed credential file including all undergraduate and graduate course work.
-Verification of successful classroom teacher performance and/or student teaching experience.
-Evidence of willingness and ability to comply with the standards for ethical and professional performance established by the Nebraska State Board of Education.
  1. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

-Regular and predictable attendance.
-Excellent oral and written communication skills with students, staff, parents, and community.
-Teach all students regardless of abilities.
-Serve as a positive role model for youth.
-Build relationships with students, staff, parents, and community.
-Teach Seward Public School's curriculum and life skills to all students.
-Develop students' cognitive capacity and respect for learning.
-Foster Student's self-esteem, motivation, and sense of citizenship.
-Maintain a classroom environment conducive to learning.
-Implement useful diagnostic and progress assessment measures.
-Successfully integrate technology into your classroom/lessons.
-Utilize Seward Public School's instructional methods and learning materials.
-Establish a cooperative relationship with all assigned students.
-Maintain open lines of communication with parents/guardians.
-Engage in professional growth activities.
-Work collaboratively with other staff to achieve the overall purposes of the school program.
-Assist in planning for special needs and high ability students.
-Other duties as assigned.
