Position Summary:

We are seeking a research track faculty member (non tenure-track) to be part of a vibrant Indigenous-led research team that focuses on intervention research to address and prevent chronic disease. This position will provide support to the statistical conduct of clinical and/or prevention trials, including issues related to design, data collection, reporting of routine outcomes and adverse events, and analysis.
The Center forIndigenous Health Research and Policy (CIHRP) at Oklahoma State UniversityCenter for Health Sciences is a leading research center for Indigenous health. Ourresearch funding totals more than $15 million, including active R01 randomizedintervention trials funded by the National Institutes of Health.

This position is a 12-month research-track position with thepotential for renewal and transition to tenure track dependent upon performanceappraisal, mutual consent, and funding availability.
1.5.2.4 Research Faculty. Research professorships are annual, renewable term,non-tenure track appointments at the rank of Research Assistant Professor,Research Associate Professor, and Research Professor. These positions will beused to support and enhance research programs and initiatives and createresearch activities at OSU-CHS. These individuals will be expected to developindependent research programs and serve as principal investigators on proposalsto external agencies. In hiring into the research professor track, OSU-CHSlooks to attract high quality researchers who hold promise to become engaged inacademic and scholarly activities including but not limited to performingcollaborative research with academic faculty; supervising undergraduate or graduateresearch; serving on departmental or college committees; and organizing,attending, and presenting at professional conferences and seminars. The primaryassignment will be research, and these individuals will not serve as primaryInstructors in regular course offerings of departments or degree programs.Instructional activities will be limited to offerings specific to theirresearch expertise and supervision of graduate students as provided for bymembership in the Graduate Faculty. The salaries and fringe benefits forresearch professors are to be paid by external grants and sponsored programs.The existence of research professor positions is contingent upon availabilityof funding.
Continued employment of a research professor during the termof appointment will depend on the availability of external funding. If reappointment is desired, anapplication for reappointment is required prior to the end of the contractperiod. Reappointment is contingent upon satisfactory performance as determinedthrough performance appraisal and the availability of external grant fundsand/or bridge funds.
Research Assistant Professors and Research AssociateProfessors will be eligible to seek promotion to Research Associate Professorand Research Professor, respectively, after five years of service in rankaccording to guidelines for promotion developed by the sponsoring academicunit(s).
Should such an individual be appointed to a tenure-trackposition following an appropriately approved search, the time spent in the research position shallnot count as part of the probationary tenure consideration period, unlessspecified in the memorandum of understanding for the permanent position.

Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift, carry push, and pull 20 pounds, stoop, reach, stand,walk, finger, grasp, feel, talk, hear, see, and perform repetitive motions withor without reasonable accommodations.

Position Qualifications:
Qualifications:
- Doctoral degree in Public Health, Nutrition, Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Nutrition or a related field
- 24 months or moreexperience working as part of a team of NIH-funded research investigators.
- The successful candidate will have experience in designing epidemiologic methods for research studies, conducting applied analysis, and presenting study processes and findings to academic, professional, and local audiences through presentations and publications.
Skills,Proficiencies and Knowledge:
- Proficiency in data management and analysis tools, particularly SAS, is anticipated.
- Experience in supervising personnel is preferred.
- Additionally, familiarity with Indigenous communities through community-based participatory approaches is advantageous.
- Works alongside the research team to formulate epidemiological methodologies for new grant funding prospects.
- Aids in the preparation and submission of grant applications, ensuring precision, while also providing support to Principal Investigators as required.
Preferred:
- Supervisory experience with personnel.
- Ideal candidates should focus their research on cardiovascular disease prevention, health disparities, nutrition, and/or food security.
- Experience in Community-Based Participatory Research (CBPR)
- First-author publications and presentations are preferred.
