ATCS is growing! We are looking for a Responsible Charge Engineer to join our Construction Services team in the Charlottesville, VA area. This role will oversee major transportation projects during the construction phase. The ideal candidate will hold a Professional Engineer (PE) license in VA and possess a strong commitment to ensuring compliance, safety, and quality in all aspects of project execution.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for the direct and personal supervision of engineering activities during construction.
- Ensure projects are constructed in strict accordance with contract documents and specifications.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation to demonstrate compliance with:
- Project requirements.
- Applicable federal and state regulations.
- Safety and environmental standards.
Collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including VDOT staff, local government agencies, consultants, and the public. Prepare project correspondence and progress reports for client approval and support project meetings. Provide timely and articulate communication between necessary parties that furthers the project and helps meet client’s goals. Other duties as assigned. Requirements - Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field is required.
- Professional Engineer’s license is required, preferably in VA. Will consider other states with the commitment of obtaining a Virginia PE within 6 months of starting employment.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in transportation construction projects, preferably in VA.
- Familiarity with AASHTO, VDOT, and regional design standards, practices, and policies.
- Excellent oral, written, communication, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in relevant software applications, such as Microsoft Office suite and construction management software.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Our employees are the most critical part of ATCS. For this position, we offer a competitive salary range of $110,000 to $145,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications. The role is also eligible for an annual bonus, with a target 2% of the employee's annualized salary.
