We are seeking a skilled and experienced Splunk Engineer to join our team to architect and manage systems monitoring of all installed systems and infrastructure. As a Splunk Engineer, you will also be responsible for executing risk management and developing mitigation standards as well as developing and reviewing performance metrics. This position requires up to 50% travel in and around the Maryland, Virginia, and DC area.
Responsibilities:
- Overseeing the development, testing, and implementation of system solutions, ensuring they meet or exceed performance standards and client expectations.
- Facilitate seamless system integration and resolve technical issues that may arise.
- Conduct thorough system analyses, develop readiness reports, and provide recommendations for system enhancements.
- Work closely with clients and stakeholders to understand their needs and ensure system alignment with their objectives.
- Execute risk assessment and develop mitigation strategies.
- Develop and review technical performance metrics.
- Establish goals to make project deadlines.
- Run simulations to predict system performance under different conditions.
- Analyze and present test results to internal and external stakeholders.
- Administer, manage, and maintain Splunk Core and Technical Add-Ons.
- Conduct system health checks for Splunk and provide recommendations on performance improvements.
- Administer Splunk servers from the command line and work with configuration files (Ansible Automation, Python, CentOS 7, RHEL 7).
- Develop custom Splunk apps to meet customer needs in a variety of domains: IT Security, Financial, IT ops, Human Resources, Physical Security, etc.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related field or applicable work experience.
- Secret security clearance.
- Six years of experience as a Splunk Engineer, preferably in the government sector.
- Meet requirements of DoD 8570/8140 IAT/IAM II/III.
- Experience with virtualization, containerization, automation software, and monitoring systems.
Desired Certifications:
- Splunk Architect.
- Splunk Enterprise Security Certified Administrator.
- Cisco Certified Network Professional.
- Certified Systems Engineering Professional.
- Software Engineering Master Certification.
