Overview
The Software Analyst ensures compliance with United States Air Force (USAF) regulation through proper testing and evaluation of currently unapproved software for use within the AFRL Research & Development (R&D) network. The Software Analyst produces data that enables the AFRL/RQ-West Information System Security Manager (ISSM) to properly determine risk, assess vulnerabilities, and submit recommendations for command level approval. In the Risk Management Framework (RMF) of the software approval process, the Software Analyst arranges the software testing environment, establishes testing environment baselines, and produces raw test results for the AFRL/RQ-West ISSM analysis.
Responsibilities
- Establish a software testing environment via desktop, laptop, and virtual machine (VM).
- Use the most current test evaluation software and documentation version.
- Complete an “Application Request Worksheet” (ARW) for each software evaluation.
- Track all software testing requests and provide detailed notes in the Web Help Desk (WHD) ticketing system.
- Provide updates to the Web Help Desk ticket on the status of software testing.
- Create software deployment packages for approved local software on the SATURN network and upload packages to the AFRL site for Air Force wide review.
- Create detailed software installation instructions for newly approved software for the SATURN network and upload documents to the digital software repository.
- Create software certification assessments (SCAs) for newly approved software and have the documents reviewed and signed off by the Cybersecurity Office.
- Manage the digital software repository for SCA expirations.
Qualifications
- A minimum of three (3) years of experience in system administration and/or technical support. In addition, intermediate level knowledge of computer ports, protocols, and services.
- Microsoft Certified Professional (or Technology Specialist) certification (or approved training) for Microsoft Windows 10 or higher or CompTIA A+ 220-1101 and 220-1102.
- DOD 8140 IAT-II certification (CompTIA Security+CE).
- DoD Interim Secret clearance or higher.
