Job Description Summary
Reporting to the Associate Director of Enterprise Applications, the Senior Business Systems Analyst (Sr. BSA) plays a key role in Bentley Information Technology’s Data Management and Application Services team. This team supports over 40 enterprise applications across all business areas of the University, including: Registrar, Advising, Campus Services, Procurement, and Facilities.
The Sr. BSA provides strategic business analysis skills and product management services to administrative business departments across the University. The focus of this position is to work closely with the business units to gain in-depth understanding of their business strategy, processes and services to improve technology use within the unit. This role will be key to the continued successful adoption of Workday along with other administrative applications.
In this dynamic role, you will be responsible for working with business owners of various systems, with a focus on Workday Student, to document requirements, specify functionality to developers, test and obtain end user acceptance criteria. Work will include all phases of the project delivery lifecycle including post-production support.
Essential Duties
Collaborate with business partners to understand processes, application needs, gather requirements, map to existing systems, define new needs, and test solutions.
Propose solutions using applications, business processes, or both, to support business growth with best practices guidance.
Provide detailed specifications to the development team for customizations, integrations and reports.
Work with vendors of SaaS systems to resolve issues, analyze enhancements, and engage with the user community.
Create and maintain process documentation and facilitate end user training.
Ensure that processes are optimized by understanding system, application, and training issues to identify opportunities for improvements.
Facilitate requirements sessions with stakeholders and users, work as the liaison with upstream as well as downstream technical teams and systems.
Evaluate, develop, and maintain business processes, analyze workflows and data, and build process diagrams.
Work as the BA within project teams to deliver major enhancements and new systems.
Provide hands on tier 2 support to end users as needed.
Analyze, define, build, test, and deliver reports.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree.
5 years of related work experience.
Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills with IT colleagues, business analysts, analytics staff, and business users.
Strong analytical skills, exceptional planning and organizational skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication with strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
Willing to learn new systems and be hands-on.
Experience in higher education preferred.
Experience with Workday Student preferred.
Work Environment
Hybrid office setting with extensive sitting and computer work.
Ability to travel around campus for meetings and other work-related events.
Occasional weekend and holiday on-call hours.
