Vice President of Finance and Accounting

Reports To: Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

Compensation: ~$250,000 plus bonus and equity

A rapidly growing investment firm based in San Diego, CA is hiring a VP of Accounting and Finance to join its growing department.

Role Overview

As the Vice President of Accounting and Finance, you will play a key leadership role, managing all aspects of the firm’s finance and operations functions. Reporting directly to the CFO/CCO, you will oversee fund accounting, financial reporting, compliance, and operational excellence, ensuring smooth execution of financial strategies and contributing to the firm’s growth.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the fund administrator on financial reporting, valuations, audits, fee calculations, capital calls, and distributions.
  • Manage investor communications, including NAV calculations, capital account statements, and inquiries.
  • Oversee treasury functions, credit facility operations, accounts payable, and tax coordination for funds and related entities.
  • Management Company Operations: Lead accounting and financial reporting, FP&A, treasury, vendor management, and tax reporting coordination.
  • General Partner (GP) Accounting: Oversee GP financial reporting, capital calls, distributions, and tax matters.
  • Compliance & Regulatory Affairs: Support the CCO in managing an effective compliance program, regulatory reporting, and vendor coordination.
  • Project Management: Drive operational improvements and lead project-based initiatives as needed.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is an accomplished finance professional with a deep understanding of private equity fund accounting and a proven track record of operational excellence. Key qualifications include:

  • Experience: Minimum 8 years in finance roles, including tenure at a Big 4 accounting firm and within a private equity investment firm.
  • Skills: Advanced Excel proficiency, strong analytical and managerial abilities, and exceptional communication skills.
  • Attributes: A passion for continuous process improvement, intellectual curiosity, and the ability to thrive in a collaborative environment.
  • Base Salary: Highly competitive
