The Role
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Network Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in network engineering, development experience appropriate for a network engineer (Python, Ansible, Jinja2, etc.), and a passion for solving complex technical challenges. As a Network Engineer for Lumen Financial Connect, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our network infrastructure to ensure optimal performance and security.
Location and Schedule
This is a Work from Home position available from any US-based location.
The Main Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and manage network infrastructure, including routers, switches, and other network devices.
- Support escalations from our operations element by monitoring network performance, identifying potential issues, and troubleshooting problems to ensure high availability, reliability, and rapid incident resolution.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Product, to support the expansion of our financial network through onboarding new financial exchanges.
- Read and interpret technical documents (e.g., exchange specifications) and translate them into production configurations that meet our standards.
- Develop and maintain methods of procedure (MOPs) for network upgrades and maintenance, ensuring the latest security and performance standards are met, while providing supervisory oversight and guidance to operational teams when needed.
- Document network configurations, processes, and procedures for future reference and compliance.
- Provide technical support and guidance to team members and clients as needed.
What We Look For in a Candidate
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Network Engineer or in a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of network protocols, including multicast (PIM-SM, PIM-SSM, IGMP, MSDP), BGP, and ISIS.
- Experience with network security practices and technologies.
- Familiarity with network monitoring and management tools.
- Development experience with Ansible as a primary tool, with additional experience in Python, Jinja2, and other relevant automation tools.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CCNA, CCNP) are a plus.
Compensation
This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience, and other relevant factors.
Location Based Pay Ranges:
$103,711 - $138,281 in these states: AL, AR, AZ, FL, GA, IA, ID, IN, KS, KY, LA, ME, MO, MS, MT, ND, NE, NM, OH, OK, PA, SC, SD, TN, UT, VT, WI, WV, and WY.
$108,896 - $145,195 in these states: CO, HI, MI, MN, NC, NH, NV, OR, and RI.
$114,082 - $152,109 in these states: AK, CA, CT, DC, DE, IL, MA, MD, NJ, NY, TX, VA, and WA.
