Otak is seeking a skilled Systems Administrator to manage and maintain our on-premises and cloud-based IT infrastructure. This role is responsible for ensuring system security, performance, and scalability while supporting networking technologies, server relocations, cloud services, cybersecurity initiatives, patch management, and system monitoring. Additionally, the Systems Administrator will contribute to IT projects and business process improvements to enhance operational efficiency.
This position may be based out of our Portland, OR or Redmond, WA office.
What you’ll do:
Security & Compliance
- Enhance cybersecurity by maintaining compliance with security frameworks (CIS, NIST, ISO 27001), conducting audits, and escalating incidents as needed.
- Recommend and implement security best practices, including system hardening, authentication, and access control.
- Administer virtualization, firewalls, and VPNs while ensuring optimal system performance through patching, monitoring, and routine maintenance.
- Oversee server room management, including physical infrastructure upkeep, UPS systems, cooling, and rack organization.
- Administer and maintain Windows Server environments, including Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and DHCP.
- Manage identity and access management (IAM), including user accounts, security groups, and enterprise endpoint management.
- Assist in refining backup and disaster recovery strategies for critical infrastructure; test and validate DR and BC plans.
- Create documentation for system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting.
- Support IT infrastructure projects, including system migrations, automation, network segmentation, and office relocations.
- Assist in automating IT processes using scripting (PowerShell, Python) and enterprise automation tools such as Power Automate.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex system issues, providing level 2 support and escalating as needed.
- Utilize IT service management tools to track and resolve support requests.
What you bring:
- Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education, certifications and experience may be considered.
- A minimum of 6 years of experience in systems administration.
- Knowledge of IT security best practices, experience with industry security frameworks (e.g., CIS, NIST, ISO 27001), and compliance standards.
- Experience with virtualization, enterprise firewall administration, and networking; expertise with ACLs a plus.
- Demonstrated experience with PowerShell scripting.
- Experience with Microsoft Azure (IAM solutions and RBAC with Azure preferred).
- Office 365 administration experience (Exchange, SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive, Power BI).
- Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to train staff.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with Power Automate, and Microsoft Fabric administration.
- Proficiency with Endpoint management tools.
- Experience implementing SD-WAN.

Salary range: $90,000 - $115,000 per year
