As a Software Engineer III, you’ll spend your days translating requirements into solutions, writing code, collaborating with cross-functional teams and providing us with the insights necessary to think beyond the status quo. Design and develop high-performance, low-latency backend applications for Walmart’s Last Mile Delivery team. Utilize Java/J2EE frameworks like Spring Boot for the development of optimal and maintainable software solutions. Participate in medium-to-large-scale, complex, and cross-functional projects.
About Team: Last Mile Delivery
As a member of the Walmart LMD group, you’ll be responsible for designing, implementing and testing code change required for Last Mile Delivery business requirements. You’ll independently handle high impact, critical software/systems monitoring issues, troubleshoot business and production issues. As a member of the team, you’ll be able to say that you work for the world’s largest retailer and contribute to the development of best-in-class methodologies that impacted perception and drastically changed business as we know it.

- Review project requirements and translate requirements into technical solutions. Gather requested information (for example, design documents, product requirements, wireframes). Write and develop code. Conduct unit testing.
- Communicate status and issues to team members and stakeholders. Collaborate with project team and cross-functional teams. Troubleshoot open issues and bug fixes. Enhance design to prevent re-occurrences of defects. Interact with project managers to provide input on project plans.
- Utilize project management and goal-setting tools including JIRA and Workday. Document business logic implemented in the code which can be referenced by co-developers and other teams.
- Troubleshoot business and production issues. Review and analyze information (for example, issue, impact, criticality, a possible root cause). Engage support teams to assist in the resolution of issues and formulating an action plan. Direct actions as designated in the plan. Interpret the results to determine further action. Perform root cause analysis to prevent future occurrence of issues.
What you'll bring:
Experience designing backend web services using REST APIs. Experience with object-oriented programming languages and frameworks. Experience designing and implementing database management system using MySQL and CosmosDB. Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines to improve the speed and quality of software using Jenkins. Experience with version control tools including GitHub. Experience building and deploying applications and services into cloud environments. Experience analyzing user requirements and defining functional specifications using the Agile methodology. Experience with high volume-low latency messaging infrastructure. Experience applying software development design patterns and principles.
