About the Role: We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Network/Systems Administrator to join our IT team. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding and hands-on experience in managing both Windows and Linux-based systems, as well as network equipment with a strong passion for optimizing and maintaining infrastructure. The candidate will be integral to ensuring the stability, security, and performance of our servers and systems, playing a critical role in supporting our organization's IT operations and business objectives. The candidate must have experience maintaining compliance with DISA STIG requirements, including implementing and managing security controls, and ensuring that all systems adhere to STIG and cyber security guidelines. The candidate will have a thorough understanding of how to assess and remediate vulnerabilities, apply necessary patches, and continuously monitor systems to uphold the highest standards of security and compliance within a government or defense-related IT environment.

Responsibilities:

  1. Manage and maintain Windows and Linux servers, hardware and software, including installation, configuration, and ongoing updates.
  2. Implement and maintain DISA STIG and/or other security hardening compliance across various systems and network infrastructure.
  3. Develop and maintain backup and recovery plans to ensure data integrity and availability.
  4. Provide support to end-users, including resolving system-related issues and answering technical queries.
  5. Assessment and remediation of vulnerabilities according to cyber security guidelines.
  6. Monitor and track corporate infrastructure products (hardware and software) for license tracking and End of Life planning.
  7. Research and investigate exploits and vulnerabilities and recommend remediations.
  8. Apply security patches and updates in a timely manner to keep systems secure and up to date.
  9. Monitor server performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize system performance.
  10. Maintain detailed documentation of system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.

Required Skills and Experience:

  1. Proven experience as a Linux System Administrator.
  2. Exceptional time management skills with a strong ability to multi-task.
  3. Deep knowledge of Windows and RHEL-based Linux operating systems (e.g., Red Hat, CentOS, Rocky Linux).
  4. Strong knowledge of DISA STIG guidelines and best practices and general system and network hardening.
  5. Proficiency in shell scripting and automation tools (e.g., Bash, Python, Ansible).
  6. Strong understanding of networking concepts and protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
  7. Experience with virtualization and containerization technologies (e.g., VMware, Docker).
  8. Familiarity with security assessment tools and vulnerability scanning tools.
  9. Familiarity with Amazon Web Services or other Cloud technologies.

Education and Certification Requirements:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in information technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  2. Must possess CompTIA Security+ certification.

Citizenship and Clearance Requirement:

SECRET or higher security clearance.

Location:

Onsite between two locations; Hancock Street and Ronson Court, San Diego, CA.

Work Environment: PMAT offices as needed. Remote work is also acceptable depending on location and access to a PMAT office. In some cases, work in a government facility may be required. Travel may be required for customer engagement, team coordination, and potentially for business development.
