The Sunrun Legal Team is seeking an experienced, meticulous, and energetic individual to work as Senior Counsel, Tax & Project Finance. Under the supervision of attorneys on the Legal Team, you will work to provide a wide range of support on project finance and corporate matters.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborate with Sunrun’s products and tax teams to structure new product offerings, modify existing offerings and vet tax regimes in potential new markets to ensure bankability and achieve desired tax and business outcomes.
- Review proposed tax law changes and advise / assist Sunrun’s tax and policy teams in developing and implementing tax policy advocacy strategies.
- Advise the business on any operational changes needed to comply with new tax law and/or to maximize its benefits.
- Draft, negotiate, and provide legal counsel on a variety of financing agreements (e.g., tax equity, cash equity / transferability and senior and subordinated debt in the commercial bank and ABS markets) in partnership with Sunrun’s industry-leading project finance team.
- Develop and maintain base forms and template agreements to support Sunrun’s financing and other commercial activities.
- Assist on tax examinations and audits on an as-needed basis.
- As needed, manage outside counsel with respect to the tax and project finance initiatives described above.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of 7+ years of practicing in the tax group (or equivalent) at a leading law firm or in a tax / legal in-house role, with experience working on renewable energy financing transactions.
- Meticulous organizational skills with a keen eye for detail, completeness and accuracy.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Extensive experience in multitasking projects, workloads, managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and competing priorities.
- Fluent in information technology, software, and systems, including, for example, Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Adobe Acrobat, DocuSign and databases.
- Experience with project management across teams and executing on strict deadlines.

Starting salary/wage for this opportunity: $236,480.52 to $315,307.36
