Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic team member to join our meat department as a key contributor to delivering exceptional customer service, ensuring high-quality products, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment.

  • Maintaining a fresh and appealing display by checking quality, keeping cases and shelves clean and well-stocked, rotating and removing out-of-date products, filling ice tables, and performing other duties as assigned.

  • Maximizing sales potential through effective procedures for prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising product.

  • Providing excellent customer service, addressing needs of customers in a timely and effective manner, and modeling suggestive selling techniques.

  • Maintaining or ensuring maintenance of a clean and sanitary working and shopping environment; maintains equipment in accordance with WFM cleanliness and safety standards.

  • Ensuring accuracy of signs and pricing, and immediately reporting safety hazards and violations.

  • Performing opening, mid, and closing duties as assigned.

Key Skills
  • Able to sell proactively and have the ability to learn basic knowledge of all products carried in the department.

  • Ability to visually examine products for quality and freshness, and read labels and familiarize oneself on various products.

  • Strong work ethic and ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a sense of urgency.

  • Understanding of and compliance with WFM quality goals.

  • Possess good communication skills to effectively interact with customers, vendors, and Team Members.

  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and work in a wet and cold environment.

Work Environment
  • Standing/walking 6-8 hours in an 8-hour work day.

  • Exposure to temperatures: <32 degrees Fahrenheit (freezing), 32-40 degrees Fahrenheit (refrigerators), >90 degrees Fahrenheit.

  • Ability to use tools and equipment, including box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery.

Requirements
  • No prior retail experience required.

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
