Job Description

U-Haul is seeking an experienced Senior Infrastructure Engineer with a strong background in Kubernetes, Automation, Linux, Scripting, and Load Balancing.

Primary Responsibilities:

  1. Take ownership of assigned projects and actively drive them to completion.
  2. Leverage new and existing technologies to help Teams achieve their automation goals.
  3. Proactively evaluate the security of new and existing solutions.
  4. Work with security compliance teams, ensuring solutions adhere to HIPAA, SOX and PCI-DSS requirements.
  5. Lead troubleshooting efforts upon escalation, working them until resolution or handoff.
  6. Independently review and verify changes/solutions of high complexity and ensure governance and change management practices are followed.
  7. Provide input on solution designs and security policies.
  8. Mentor and provide training to other team members.

Requirements:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology (will consider technical training/job experience equivalents).
  2. 5+ years of IT experience with 2+ years of IT Infrastructure Engineering experience.
  3. Enterprise Engineering experience with Kubernetes design and implementation.
  4. Engineering or Sr Administration level experience with Linux Operating Systems such as Ubuntu, OEL, and RHEL.
  5. Experience with automation technologies such as Ansible/AWX, Terraform.
  6. Proficiency in at least one scripting language such as PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
  7. Comfortable with data serialization and markup languages such as YAML, JSON, XML, and HTML.
  8. Experience using Source Control (Git, SVN, TFVC).
  9. Experience with load balancing solutions like Big-IP, Nginx, Kemp, or cloud based.
  10. Ability to leverage authentication technologies like Active Directory, Entra, LDAP, SAML, and DUO in new and existing solutions.
  11. An in-depth understanding of core IT knowledge (TCP/IP, VLANs, NAT, DNS, OSI Layers).
  12. Fluent English and high oral and written communication skills.
  13. Ability to plan work out in advance, scheduling approval for changes with proper communication.
  14. Advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  15. Ability to interact with various levels of professionals.
  16. Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines.
  17. Be able to judge priorities and adjust their work accordingly.
  18. Identify and escalate situations requiring urgent attention.
  19. Ability to independently research, design, implement, document, and hand off a solution.
  20. Maintain strong working relationships with operations peers, development teams and hardware/software vendors.

Experience with these technologies a plus:

  1. Web hosting experience with IIS (Internet Information Service), Apache, or Azure.
  2. Nginx with Kubernetes.
  3. Apache Kafka.
  4. Elastic Suite (ELK, Elastic Search, Logstash, Kibana).
  5. Public Cloud and Hybrid Cloud solutions.
  6. Experience working in Scrum/Agile environment.
