If you enjoy working outdoors in a collaborative work environment and have experience in tree pruning and maintenance, come join our Parks division of the Parks, Recreation & Leisure Services Department!
Our Tree Trimmers are an integral part of our team that beautifies the City by maintaining, removing and felling the trees and/or tree stumps throughout the community. This candidate would operate a variety of automotive, power and hand tools and equipment in the care and removal of trees.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Two (2) years of full-time equivalent experience in tree maintenance and/or grounds maintenance to include some experience or on the job training in the operation of related equipment and tools or closely related experience.
  • High school graduation or GED preferred.
  • A combination of education and experience may be considered for this position.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and must have and maintain a satisfactory driver's record based on the City of Hampton's criteria.
  • Must possess a valid Virginia Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or may possess a Commercial Driver's License instruction permit upon application and obtain the CDL within 90 days of employment.
  • This position is safety sensitive and is subject to testing for alcohol and controlled substances in accordance with the City's current substance abuse policy.
  • Must successfully pass a background check prior to any offer of employment or promotion.
