When you join Ayres as our next operational vice president, you'll become the leader of a diverse team that spans across all four time zones in the United States. You will have operational control of the consulting services we provide to private and public clients locally, regionally, and nationally and provide administrative leadership to our Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing division.

We're seeking a vice president with an entrepreneurial spirit and a collaborative mindset to lead a strategic approach to further grow our division. Your collaborative interactions across a multi-disciplined company, proven relationships with external clients, and ability to lead will gain you a seat at the table, where you'll play an integral role on our company's leadership team.
On any given day, you'll:- Create a divisional vision in alignment with the firm's strategic plan.
- Collaborate and lead the MEP team through the execution of the divisional strategic plan.
- Foster a work environment that is rooted in collaboration, transparency, work quality, and client service.
- Prepare the annual divisional budget, complete quarterly forecasts, oversee monthly revenue recognition, and report on financial performance.
- Grow the division in and beyond the existing footprint in the Los Angeles, Denver, Minneapolis, and Tampa markets.
- Pursue opportunities for business development in the division, including client contact, marketing initiatives, and client and partner satisfaction.
- Engage in local, state, and/or national professional organizations.
- Champion and support staff development/mentorship, allowing staff to feel competent, supported, and driven toward career development.
- Understand and adhere to Ayres policies and procedures while preparing and overseeing quality assurance and quality control measures.
- Build and maintain respectful working relationships with fellow management and leadership that allow you to engage in decision-making.
- Approve/oversee the preparation and negotiations of contract documents, including scope of work, project schedule, and fee estimates.
- Provide leadership to the team on the production of project work, ensuring that the work is produced on schedule, profitably, and in conformance with the firm's quality standards and the contract's requirements.
- Make strategic hires in our core focus areas, growing our team and helping develop a bench of talent in the company, division, and group.
Required Qualifications:- Consulting experience in the A/E industry
- A minimum of 15 years of combined experience in the following:
- Strategic planning: leading a business unit toward a clear vision
- People development: proven leadership, collaboration, and growth
- Leveraging data: using data to objectively inform direction and/or strategy
- Ability to delegate appropriate responsibilities to others to handle multiple priorities
- Willingness to travel to any company location on a regular basis
- Valid driver's license with a good driving record
Desired Skills and Experiences:- A bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or architectural engineering with a mechanical or electrical emphasis. A master's degree in business is a plus.
- Hold a professional engineering license
- Ability to work and communicate effectively through the division, across divisions, and with corporate staff.
- Proven success in collaborative leadership with the ability to work with other leaders and service lines in the company to promote cross-selling.
- Ability to grow the division geographically through expansion of existing service lines.
- Proven success in meeting goals and objectives of annual business plans and budget, including revenue and profitability, staffing, workload backlog, billing, accounts receivable, return on investment on capital purchases, and image development.
- Desire to build the Ayres brand at local, state, and, potentially, national professional meetings/conferences.
- Ability to delegate appropriate responsibilities to others to handle multiple priorities.
- Ability to think outside the box to generate creative ideas for capturing new clients and market share.
- Excellent communication skills, client service focus, and business development and marketing experience.

Our good-faith compensation approach is fair and equitable, and takes into consideration only permissible factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, training, skills, and experience, and geographic location where the work is performed. A salary range for this posting is $160000 - $220000 / year. The foregoing salary range represents what the company believes, in good-faith, it will pay for the posted opportunity. The individual selected for this role will be evaluated with the compensation factors in mind and placed appropriately.
