What's the Short Version?

The Art Director, Product Marketing serves as an integral part of our creative and marketing team. They work on branding projects spanning our company's range of lifestyle and athletics inspired private label and retail brands. The Art Director collaborates with our merchants to decipher business goals and customer needs through connecting visual and information design. Within Marketing, this role works hand in hand with our Designers, Writers, Web Marketers and Project Managers to create highly effective, customer-centric marketing to our customers and their clients.

What Will You Be Doing?
  • Conceptualize, develop, and initiate creative content and campaigns for private label and retail brands.
  • Align creative strategy and brand identity across print, web, social, display and other forms of creative media.
  • Work collaboratively with Merchandising, creative, and project teams on work requirements, concepts and project timelines.
  • Develop brand objectives, budget, background information, and presentation approaches, styles, and techniques.
  • Work with Merchandising to create travel guidelines and approved model pools.
  • Direct photo shoots in support of brand campaign, including locations, photographers, models, stylists and other requirements.
  • Research and maintain awareness of emerging design trends, technologies and resources.


What Are We Looking For?
  • Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Design or other related design or marketing discipline, or related experience.
  • 10+ years of experience in design and brand marketing.
  • Extensive experience as a art director, directing photo and video shoots.
  • Knowledge of working with/on multiple brands/projects, each with their own look and voice.
  • Excellent visual design skills.
  • Excellent written communication and presentation skills, able to convey creative concepts to team members.
  • Proven collaboration skills that enhance teamwork and alignment of goals.
  • Strong time management skills and independent self-starter.
  • Ability to work in a fast pace environment with limited resources while under challenging deadlines.
  • Hands-on expertise in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat).
  • Proficient understanding of MAC computer platform.
  • Significant working experience with appropriate design tools (e.g., Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.)
  • Awareness/interest in current/future digital trends.
  • Experience working with apparel lifestyle or athletics brands is a significant plus.
  • Experience leading a team of designers is a plus.

Be prepared to show not only design outcomes, but also the processes and techniques-including thinking, design, and collaboration-that led to those results. We want to see how your portfolio demonstrates your ability to use design thinking and visual communication skills to advance shared understanding and knowledge of project requirements and user needs. It will also be valuable if the story behind some or all of your portfolio work demonstrates your ability to lead others, generate consensus, and drive positive outcomes in collaborative, cross-disciplinary efforts. You must also be able to demonstrate your ability to work closely with clients, fellow designers, and development teams.


What's Our Offer?

Salary Range: You`ll earn between $105,000 - $150,000 annually, depending on experience.

Bonus: You`ll be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus up to 15% of base salary.

Paid Time Off: You`ll accrue paid time off on a bi-weekly basis based on hours worked up to 112 hours per year to start. Employees also receive 8 paid holidays and 1 paid family day off.

What Should You Expect?

Hybrid: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle or feel. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Work environment is moderately quiet. Ability to work on computer for multiple hours with frequent interruptions.

SanMar's Eastpointe office is located near Seattle, WA and our standard working hours are 8:00-5:00 PST. Quarterly travel may be required.
