Klohn Crippen Berger Ltd. is seeking an
Intermediate Geotechnical Engineer with a minimum of five years of relevant experience to join the Power and Transportation group in our Toronto office. This position requires experience in the assessment, design and development of hydraulic structures and transportation infrastructure.
This role will give you the opportunity to:- Contribute technically to the assessment, design, and development of hydraulic structures and transportation infrastructure projects.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior staff members.
- Apply your knowledge to challenging structural and civil engineering projects, from conceptual through detailed design, to construction monitoring and project completion.
- Engage in various project types, including new hydropower facilities, retrofitting of existing hydraulic structures, dam safety reviews, and related assessments.
- Utilize analytical skills and computational tools (e.g., GeoStudio suite, RocScience suite, Deepsoil, ProShake, CLiq, APILE, LPILE, GROUP) to solve geotechnical challenges.
- Travel within Ontario, Canada, and occasionally internationally for project requirements.
Requirements:- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
- Minimum of 5 years of related experience.
- Registration as a Professional Engineer in Ontario, or eligibility to obtain registration
- Existing registration as a Professional Engineer in any US state is advantageous.
- Demonstrated experience in geotechnical design of hydraulic structures, transportation infrastructure and project coordination.
- Knowledge of industry codes and standards related to geotechnical engineering.
- Analytical skills with various computational tools - GeoStudio suite, RocScience suite, Deepsoil, ProShake, CLiq, APILE, LPILE, GROUP, etc.;
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD, and ArcGIS, proficiency in use of the MS Office suite of products;
- Familiarity with earthfill dam design, spillway and intake design, penstock and/or lined tunnel design, highway and railway grade design, and bridge foundation design (desirable).
- Experience in seismic assessments and seismic design of structures.
- Knowledge of Canadian Dam Association guidelines and regulations, Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code, and American Railway Engineering and Maintenance-of-Way Association standards.
