SMX is currently seeking a
Senior Project Manager to join the Program Management Office (PMO) and support the Department of Interior (DOI) portfolio of programs. This position is responsible for the management and direction of the day-to-day operations of contract costs, schedule, and performance execution. The ideal candidate will provide project support on staffing, administrative oversight, operations management, workforce management, budgets, and sub-contracting. This position is remote, supporting a Washington DC based program.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Ensure projects are completed on time and within budget, utilizing corporate QMS processes to track schedule and cost.
- Report status, develop documentation, implement lessons learned, and maintain production and quality metrics for assigned programs and projects.
- Support DSG Business Unit with business development activities, including new market capture opportunities, proposal development, and identifying additional workshare within current contracts.
- Identify and shape prime and subcontract opportunities for SMX in current and emerging markets.
- Ensure contract service, quality, and performance requirements are met, and maintain compliance with standard operating procedures (SOP).
- Advise on any contractual issues and anticipated or proposed adverse personnel actions.
- Establish and maintain effective relationships with Government program managers, Contracting Officers (CO), CO Representatives (COR), and Alternate CORs.
- Work with PMO leadership to develop short- and long-range goals, objectives, and operating procedures in line with contract parameters.

- Strong data management, problem-solving, organizational, and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to learn rapidly and adapt quickly to change.
- Experience leading complex development, production, and/or support initiatives with technical objectives.
- Customer-focused.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint).
- Bachelor's degree in business, management, or a related discipline (relevant experience can be substituted for a degree).
Desired Skills/Experience- 10 years of project support in a fast-paced environment.
- Expertise in Agile Project Management.
- Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) and Project Management Professional (PMP) certifications preferred.
